Navigating Menopause With Confidence

Navigating Menopause With Confidence

Menopause is a natural biological process that follows the perimenopausal phase, marking the official end of your menstrual cycle and ability to conceive. It typically occurs between the ages of 45 and 55, though some women may experience it earlier.

Menopause is characterised by a decline in hormone levels, leading to a range of uncomfortable and often unexpected symptoms. Not only does menopause affect a woman’s physical health, but it can also have significant effects on mental wellbeing. It can feel like an isolating time as you navigate a new phase of life and the unknown.

What is Menopause?

Menopause occurs when your ovaries stop producing eggs and the levels of hormones like oestrogen and progesterone decline. It is officially diagnosed after 12 consecutive months without a period. While menopause is a natural part of ageing, its symptoms can vary greatly from woman to woman, and can include unexpected weight gain, hot flashes, and extreme fatigue.

Symptoms can differ, but the most common ones include hot flashes, night sweats, mood changes, sleep disturbances, weight gain, and fatigue.

Many of our clients report feeling ‘out of sync’ with their bodies during this time.

Celebrities like Shania Twain, Salma Hayek, and Drew Barrymore have bravely opened up about their experiences with menopause. Being so open with their own struggles helps other women to be brave about their journey’s, and to not be ashamed about the changes they are going through.

"There are no expiration dates for women. That has to go. You can kick ass at any age. You can hold your own at any age, you can dream at any age, you can be romantic at any age. We have the right to be loved for who we are, at the place that we are. We're not just here to make babies, we're not just here to baby the man. We're not just here to service everything and everyone around us. When the kids go away, it's almost like there’s an expiration date for you as a woman. It’s a misunderstanding that’s been going around for centuries."
